Happy Birthday TileClick!

Today, 26th November 2009 is TileClicks 5th Birthday.

In some ways it seems like a lot longer than 5 years, yet we can remember switching on the website with our first Google campaign pretty clearly.

Our goal then – to be one of the UK’s leading online tile retailers, selling bathroom tiles, kitchen tiles and floor tiles. We carried out alot of research and trials in working out the best way to try and bring a product that wasn’t at that point being sold on the internet, to a website format that was informative and easy to navigate for the users!

Did you see us?

TileClick donated tiles for The Home Show, a well known program on Channel 4, which aired last night (Tuesday 24th November 09).   It was a special edition of the show as the elderly residents of a retirement home in Surrey needed thier accommodation updating.  It was tired and in need of a bit of TLC to make it a more enjoyable place for the residents to live.  The architect George Clarke went to work, creating ways to which the space could be improved.  TileClick’s tiles were used to improve the store room, we supplied clean white tiles to freshen and brighten up the room.  The tiles that we donated to the project, were the 198 x 248 Candy White CAN30046 tiles, by British Ceramic Tiles.  These are perfect wall tiles for use in a utility room or bathroom.  Click to view an image of our tiles in use on Channel 4′s website.

TileClick on Channel 4′s ‘The Home Show’

There is a special Home Show on channel 4 tonight at 8pm, where architect George Clarke takes on one of his toughest projects yet – to transform AbbeyField House, an old peoples home.

George is famous for redesigning houses for his clients on the home show by redesigning space to improve not only peoples homes, but their quality of living and life. In this project George was faced with different problems redesigning this already large home for its 12 occupants who are all aged between 78 – 94 years of age, who could not be moved out of the home so special working and logistic arrangements all had to be considered by George and his team. As usual working on a tight budget, TileClick were pleased to help support the project by donating ceramic tiles for there large store room.

4 Most Common Tiling Apps

Ceramic and Porcelain tiles are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. There are a great variety of shapes, sizes, shade, designs, textures – all of which can enhance the beauty of your home, you can start your tile search here.

Wall Tiles

The most common place that tiles are used! In bathrooms and kitchens wall tiles provide a waterproof barrier, as well as an hygienic and practical solution to lots of different styles and trends that is required in todays new and refurbished home projects.

Floor Tiles

Porcelain Tiles

Over the past few years Porcelain Tiles have become more popular and more affordable.

What is the benefit of buying a porcelain tile over a ceramic tile? Well, the main advantage is that Porcelain Tiles are considerably more durable and stronger, a good thing if you are tiling your floor in an area of relatively heavy foot traffic. This added strength does however mean that these tiles are harder to cut, drill etc etc. Diamond tipped drills and wet cutting tools will be needed as opposed to more traditional manual tile cutters and scribes.

Ordering Sample Tiles

TileClick offer a very inexpensive sample tiles ordering service – infact, if you order your main order from us and spend over £100 exc vat, they’re free!! as you can claim your money back using your sample refund code that will be in your email receipt.

Although this may take a couple of days, it really is worthwhile knowing what you are ordering for your bathroom. TileClick take our descriptions from the manufacturers to try and be as accurate as we can, although, these descriptions can be more ‘technical’ than visual.
