We sometimes get asked what is the difference between the two? or Can I put a bathroom tile in the kitchen and Vice Versa!
There aren’t really any major differences between them in some respects, the main reason that they are catagorised in this way is that usually a tile designer will have a concept in mind, they will visualise a warm and luxurious bathroom, with a nice deep bath full of soapy bubbles and candles, and work toward designing a tile that will enhance this vision – the result beingĀ ‘bathroom tiles‘.
Ok, you hopefully you get the message there so we won’t run the same example for kitchen tiles – when the tile is designed the the relevant print plates are made and the colours mixed etc. When the tiles are made, they are made in the same way for a wall tile, whether it is going on a kitchen wall or bathroom wall – they are glazed so they become waterproof. The glazes differ between gloss and satin etc, but their purpose is the same!
So feel free to experiment with your tile design, there is no rule on wall tiles just the designers vision that means the tiles are catagorised as they are!
