If you place your tile order online and if its over £150 (ex vat), then by using coupon code on10coup you will get £10 cashback. Its easy to place your order online, just select the bathroom or kitchen tile that you would like, enter the number of packs that you require and click on the add to basket button. It will then appear in the shopping basket on the right hand. If you are not sure about how many packs you will need, you can always use our tile estimator to help work this out for you. It is worth remembering to add around an additional 10% for cuts, and don’t forget that even the most experienced tiler can end up breaking some tiles whilst cutting. You can also order the grout and adhesive online too, making TileClick a one stop shop for all your tiling needs.

I was asked a question about a week ago by a friend who is trying to ‘freshen up’ their old shower room, and the shower room is old, I woudl say at least 20 years!!! Despite all my efforts to try and sell him new tiles he wasn’t having it as he just loved his old floral pattern tiles that were discountinued in the 70’s I imagine – and in all fairness, there wasnt actually anything wrong with them.

There was quite a bit of mildew and mould build up on the grout, so I suggested to him to him to find an old toothbrush, a marigold glove and some bleach. Firstly, he wiped the excessive muck off, then set about cleaning the grout joints off – armed with his old toothbrush, pink marigold gloves and a pot of bleach – it didnt take long for the results to shine through!!

The problem in these situations is that mildew and mould is a form of fungus, and is therefore a living organism, by using bleach it kills the living element of the mildew, and the bleach then helps to die the grout back to a much fresher look.

When he was happy with what he had done, as some areas around the bottom took a couple of attempts, he then used the lithofin grout protector to help prolong the appearance of his hard work – in his mind he had saved himself a fortune, only spent a few quid and a couple of hours and hey presto!!

When choosing a grout for your floor or wall tiling scheme, you need to try and consider a few points! The most traditional way of grouting was to use white on the walls and grey on the floors. Although not necessarily adventurous this combination does make sense. The white grout on the walls helps to give a bright feel and shows the tiles off – which if like alot of people you have taken time in choosing your scheme you want to do.

A grout protector such as lithofin will help to prolong the white freshness of the grout on your walls for much longer and through many cleaning sessions keeping your tiles looking like new.

The grey grout on the floor helps to differentiate between the floor and wall tiles, and often the grout joints on the floor are wider, therefore more open to attract dirt from feet and shoes. This will darken the grout, which in time will probably all blend into your room, but it helps the bathroom look good for longer, as a lighter grout would look dirtier quicker, as well as there being a larger contrast in the colours as you look around the edge of the room where there is less foot traffic.

Nowadays there is much more choice for your grout colour, but this often makes the selection process harder.

It is important to remember to choose the correct adhesive for use with your tiles. There are quite a few different types available, ranging from splash proof to water resistant, so make sure you buy the right adhesive for where your tiles are being fitted. The type of adhesive required also depends on what surface the tiles are being fixed to. If you are laying floor tiles make sure you use adhesive for the floor, as it has flexible properties to avoid damaging your floor tiles. If you are unsure about which adhesive you will need to use with your tiles, then please feel free to contact us here and someone will be happy to help.

All of the grout that we sell is fully waterproof and there are a few different colours to choose from. It is essential that grout is applied correctly, to ensure that the surface of your tiles are fully sealed. Remember that with grout there can be shade variations between batches so make sure that you order enough to complete the job, in order to avoid potential problems.

Please check out our Adhesive and Grout pages for more information. If you have any questions then please email us at support@tileclick.co.uk
